Job Profile: The selected candidate will work in a GMP facility to produce clinical grade stem cells that can be used for clinical trials. It will involve expansion, characterization and differentiation of various types of stem cells and development of standard operating procedures according to GMP norms. The techiniques that would be used include Flowcytometry, real time PCR analysis, sophisticated imaging including confocal microscopy and cell culture.

Essential Qualification for the above mentioned post is –

Ph.D. in Biotechnology/Biochemistry/Biophysics/Immunology and other Life Science related subjects (Fresh innovative candidates are highly encouraged to apply)

Pay: The candidates with Postgraduate Medical Degree recognized by the Medical Council of India will be paid Rs.18750/-(Revised) Plus Grade Pay per month in the first year of his/her residency. The emoluments of Senior Residents possessing only Post-graduate Diploma will be reduced by Rs.650/- and the same will be reduced by Rs.1300/- in case of those Senior Residents who do not have any Post-graduate degree or diploma. Book allowance of Rs.3000/- per year will be paid as per rules.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

(i) A Registered Medical Graduate of a Recognized University.

(ii) A Postgraduate Medical Degree/Diploma in the concerned speciality. If such candidates are not available in any particular speciality, those without PG qualification but having at least two years experience after M.B.B.S out of which one year should be in the concerned speciality can be considered.

For the Post of Senior Resident in Cardiology, the candidate should possess M.D in General Medicine / Pediatrics. D.M. in Cardiology will be preferred.

For the post of Senior Resident in Cardio Thoracic Vascular Surgery, the candidate should possess M.S(General Surgery). M.Ch. (CTVS) will be preferred.

For the Post of Senior Resident in Neurology, the candidate should possess M.D./DNB in General Medicine / Paediatrics / Psychiatry. D.M./DNB in Neurology will be preferred.

General Instructions and Information

1) Courses will commence in July of each year.

2) Advertisements will be available on the institutional website (www.kem.edu) and the intranet and on notice boards of all municipal medical colleges.

3) Basic qualification: As determined for each certificate/fellowship course- see table

4) Interview: By a panel of experts of three (3) - including a Senior Professor, and at least one external expert and an internal expert.

5) Selection procedure- Selection will be based on performance at interview (30%), University level academic merits (20%) publications if any (30%) and recommendations from PG teacher (20%).

6) Pattern of exam- Each year, an examination coordination committee(ECC) consisting of three teachers running Fellowship/certificate courses will be nominated by the director.

Both theory and practical Examinations will be concluded within 15 days of the end of the course. Each examination will have one internal and one external examiner (approved by the ECC).

- Theory: 100 marks. 10 short answer questions of 10 marks each to be attempted from 12 questions. Passing marks 50%. All theory examinations will be held on a single day for all courses of similar lengths.

- Practicals: Each candidate will be examined by both examiners simultaneously for between 60 and 90 minutes. This will cover a viva-voce and practical.. Details will be dependent on the subspeciality. Passing marks 50%. Candidates have to pass individually in both theory and practical.*

7) Announcement of results: Results will be announced on the Website and institutional notice board within one week of the conclusion of the examination. The result will be only “Fellowship granted/Denied and no specific markings will be done. Second attempt at the examination will be permitted at the end of the course ( no later than 3-6 months depending upon the length of the course). Only two attempts will be allowed.

8) Award of Fellowship- The courses are accredited and approved by the Mahashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS). Certificates will be awarded by the MUHS. The University with signature of the Vice Chancellor and head of institute will award the certificate which will be given in the month of June of the next year.

9) Travel for interview will NOT be reimbursed.

10) Selection for the Fellowship/Certificate training will NOT amount to becoming an employee of the MCGM. Individuals who are already permanent employees of the MCGM (in-service candidates) shall continue to be MCGM employees and will do the fellowship/certificate work in addition to their regular MCGM responsibilities.

11) Fellows and trainees will abide by rules of the MCGM at all times and report to the course co-ordinator and head of the department.

12) The institute will make all attempts to provide accommodation and a stipend, but this is not guaranteed.

13)For courses , where persons with postgraduate diploma are also eligible, MD/DNB candidates will be given preference.

14). The decision of the ECC will be binding on all matters pertaining to the examinations.

15) The policy on reservations will be as per applicable Government of India rules.

*the UG course in clinical research will have one final examination at the end of the course and 50% is the minimum requirement for award of the certificate.
