ICMR INTERNATIONAL FELLOWSHIPS


The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) invites applications from Indian biomedical scientists for the international fellowships for the year 2010-11.

Number of fellowships: Young scientists-12; Senior scientists-6

Duration: 3-6 months for young scientists and 10-15 days for senior scientists

Eligibility:

· M.D/PhD degree with at least three years teaching/research experience for young scientists and at least fifteen years teaching/research experience for senior scientists.

· Regular position in a recognized biomedical/research/health institution in India .

· Below 45 years of age for young and 55 years for senior scientists.

Financial support:

US $ 2400 per month, contingency grant of Rs.15,000/- and return economy class air ticket (excursion airfare) for young scientists. US $ 160 per day (including US$ 75 as per diem and rest for accommodation expenses) and return economy class air ticket (excursion airfare) for senior scientists.

Note:- The applicant should submit a letter of acceptance from the foreign Institute where he/ she proposes to work along with a concrete plan of training / research work to be undertaken during the fellowship.

- Recommendation by the Head of the parent organization / institute is essential.

- Incomplete applications will not be entertained.

- Decision of ICMR will be final.

- If selected, the fellowship is to be availed before 28th February, 2011.

Indo-UK Rheumatology Travelling Fellowship

Objective : To fund a promising young rheumatologist (trainee) to attend an International Rheumatology Conference: BSR or EULAR

Recipients of the fellowship are encouraged to spend some time in one or more Rheumatology units of their choice in UK to gain further experience in their area of interest. The duration of visit can vary from 6 weeks to 3 months dependant on personal circumstances and be linked to the back of the conference. Applicants should be members of IRA and should have demonstrated their commitment to Rheumatology by signing in/already working in a Rheumatology training programme. Applicants are at liberty to apply for additional funding to other agencies

Amount: UK £ 1250
Last Date: 1st September 2009
Age limit: 40 years

The following documents need to be enclosed with the application

• Brief CV (no more than one page) PLUS one page outlining:
• Applicants choice of International Conference
• Reasons why the fellowship should be granted to the individual
• How the fellowship will help the applicants career plans
• Area of special interest/ overseas Rheumatology units the applicant would like to spend time and correspondence
with host units
• Abstract Acceptance Letter is desirable but not essential
• Recommendation of the Consultant/Supervisor of the Training Programme (Please request the Supervisor to
email his/her recommendation to Dr Ira Pande)

ISG Travel fellowships for attending Gastro 2009, London


Your society is pleased to offer around seven International Travel Fellowships to attend Gastro, 2009 at London to be held between 21-25 November 2009 to young Gastroenterologists ( <37>

Aspiring candidates should send copies of their submitted abstracts, CV, and photocopy of their passports to the secretariat by September 30, 2009. Selection results will be announced by early November. A total support amount of Rs 70, 000-90,000 will be provided to those selected, on their return and on furnishing of the following: evidence of attendance, receipt of registration fees, original air-ticket jackets with boarding card and report of their learning experience. Please note that the last date for submitting abstracts for Gastro, 2009 is 8th June. Please hurry and try to make it for Gastro, 2009.
